Akara (Bean Cakes)
Ingredients: Black-eyed peas, onions, fresh peppers, salt, vegetable oil.
How it’s made: Black-eyed peas are peeled and blended with onions, peppers, and salt. The mixture is then deep-fried in hot oil until golden and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.
Moi Moi (Steamed Bean Pudding)
Ingredients: Black-eyed peas, onions, ground peppers, palm oil, seasonings.
How it’s made: Peeled black-eyed peas are ground into a smooth paste and mixed with onions, peppers, and palm oil. This mixture is then wrapped in leaves or poured into containers and steamed until firm.
Pap (Akamu)
Ingredients: Fermented cornmeal (ogi), water.
How it’s made: Cornmeal is fermented, then cooked in hot water, constantly stirred to form a smooth, thick porridge. It is often enjoyed with Akara or Moi Moi.

Agege Bread with Butter
Ingredients: Flour, yeast, sugar, butter, salt.
How it’s made: Flour and yeast are mixed with other ingredients to form a dough, which is baked until it produces the famous soft, fluffy Agege bread. Served with butter or other spreads
Beans Porridge (Ewa Agoyin)
Ingredients: Brown or white beans, palm oil, onions, peppers, seasoning.
How it’s made: Beans are boiled until soft, while a spicy sauce made with onions and peppers is cooked separately in palm oil. The beans are then mashed and served with the sauce.
Ikokore (Water Yam Porridge)
